Castrol Optigear Synthetic 1390/220 (previously called Tribol 1390/220) is a universal corrosion protection oil for
equipment and components and was specially developed for the protection and preservation of enclosed gear units during short-term storage or longer term transportation. Typically products that are not compatible with synthetic lubricants are used for this purpose and the protection oil needs to be be removed (flushed out) before startup. Optigear Synthetic 1390/220 does not need to be flushed out before filling the lubrication system with the operating lubricant if it is based on polyglycol base fluids. With correct application, the remaining quantities of this product will have no negative effects on lubrication performance after start-up. Optigear Synthetic 1390/220 is manufactured using polyglycol base fluids with the addition of extreme pressure and antiwear additives, as well as oxidation inhibitors, which give the final product excellent lubrication properties. It also has excellent corrosion protection properties due to the novel additive technology.
